Mohammed Saeed
Chair, Board of Trustees
Saeed is the Chair of Trustees, and is also the Director of a Travel Agency specialising in Hajj & Umrah. Saeed has a long affiliation to the Masjid and brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience.
Ishtiaq Ahmed
Trustee & Treasurer
Ishtiaq has been involved with the masjid for a number of decades. His father was one of the founding members of the masjid back in the 1970s. He has fulfilled many voluntary roles in the past, primarily related to Building Maintenance and managing the IT and audio visual needs of the masjid. He is currently the Treasurer, overseeing the Masjid finances.
Mohammed Naeem
Trustee
Naeem combines his role as Trustee alongside being involved with the Dawah department. He has worked tirelessly over the past years to further the dawah work of the Masjid.
Sajjad Akram
Trustee & Secretary
Sajjad has been attending the Masjid for over thirty years, initially as a madrasah student. He has led youth services and overseen the Masjid finances during the past ten years. Currently he supports various initiatives and projects at GLMCC.
Shaykh Zakaullah Saleem
Head Imam
Qari Zakaullah is the Head Imam and Head of Education at the Masjid. After completing his Islamic Education, he worked in numerous roles before becoming the Imam of Green Lane Masjid in the UK. He memorised the Qur’an at a very young age and has led the taraweeh prayers on numerous occasions. He has recently completed his Masters in Islamic Education from the Markfield Institute of Higher Education.
Mustafa Abu Rayyan
Imam and Religious Adviser
Sheikh Mustafa Hussein (Abu Rayyan) memorised the Quran from a young age and joined local study circles where he studied the Arabic language and Tafseer of the Qur’an.
He continued his journey in seeking knowledge by travelling to the city of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم and joined the Islamic University of Madinah. He studied & graduated from the Arabic institute and then went on to study at the Faculty of Shariah. He also had the privilege of studying under the major scholars of Madinah
Mustafa has a passion for Dawah and has been travelling the country educating people about Islam. He also travels internationally partaking in Islamic conferences as a keynote speaker. He is currently a khateeb and lecturer at Green Lane Masjid where he also manages many Dawah projects.
Shaykh Dr Ahsan Hanif
Religious Advisor
Born and bred in Birmingham, UK, Shaykh Ahsan is well known in his community as the young Qari who memorised the Qur’an at the tender age of 13 and who delivered regular halaqaat in Birmingham. In the year 2000, he gained a scholarship to enter the Islamic University of Madinah. After completing his Arabic diploma, he graduated from the Faculty of Shari’ah in 2006 with honours. He obtained ijazah in the Qur’an as well as studying under a number of well-known scholars, such as Sh. Abdul Muhsin al-Abbad and Sh. Muhammad ibn Muhammad Mukhtar al-Shinqiti.
Shaykh Ahsan has completed his PhD in Islamic Law from the University of Birmingham and is an Imam and khateeb at Green Lane Masjid.
Assima Alam
Head of Fundraising and Marketing
Assima is a highly experienced senior digital marketing and communications specialist, holding a BSc in Computer Science and a BA in Islamic Studies. With over 20 years of experience in her field, Assima brings a wealth of expertise to our team.
After spending eight years as a business analyst at Rolls Royce, Assima launched her own agency where she consulted on digital marketing. She specialises in digital marketing strategy and execution, developing a digital presence, websites, and server management, as well as executing successful Search Engine Optimisation strategies.
As our digital marketing manager, Assima is responsible for managing the strategy and planning for all our digital platforms. She works closely with the team to develop and execute effective digital marketing campaigns that help achieve the masjid’s goals.
In addition to her professional work, Assima is deeply passionate about working in the deen and finding ways to integrate her faith into her work. As a busy mother of three, she enjoys swimming and spending time outdoors in nature, whenever she gets a chance.
With her technical computing knowledge and her passion for digital marketing, Assima is an invaluable asset to our team. She is committed to staying up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies, ensuring that our digital marketing efforts remain innovative and effective.
Sidrah Awan
Head of Sisters Centre, Services and Activities
As Head of the Sisters Centre, Sidrah is accountable for the services and activities related to the sisters at Green Lane Masjid. She also acts as the sisters’ Office Manager, responsible for all female volunteers and staff.
Sidrah is a qualified teacher by profession. She gained a BSc in Medical Biochemistry from the University of Birmingham and went on to gain a PGCE in Chemistry from the University of Oxford. Before joining Green Lane Masjid, she was the Deputy Head of a local Islamic Girls’ School. Due to her extensive experience in teaching and working within the Education sector, Sidrah was the Head of Education at Green Lane Masjid for 3 years. In her new role, she will now be focussing on the provision for sisters within the masjid.
Sara Khurram Janjua
Scouts Group Lead Volunteer
Sara, with a background in psychology and political science, brings nearly 7 years of experience in managing and facilitating scouting activities. She is dedicated to fostering a positive environment for the scouts, aligning with the values of Green Lane Masjid.
Sara’s hobbies include painting and cooking.
Haniya Adam
PR and Communications Consultant
Haniya works as a PR and Communications Consultant at GLMCC. She began volunteering at the mosque in 2010 where she delivered tarbiya circles, public speaking class, revert support services and Budding Believers classes for children.
As a graduate in BA (Hons) English Language and Literature and PGCE in Education, Haniya uses her qualifications and experience to focus on positive media relations and networking for the masjid.
Maria Iqbal
Onsite Madrasah Administrator
Maria has a background in healthcare and administration, with experience in various roles that have equipped her with a solid understanding of community support. She is passionate about working for the masjid and is eager to make a positive impact on those around her. As the Onsite Madrasah Administrator, Maria is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Madrasah. In her spare time, Maria enjoys spending time with friends, family, and being in the masjid.

Ibraheem Naeem is one of our in-house videographers at Green Lane Masjid. Armed with top-notch equipment and technical expertise, he is dedicated to delivering high-quality video production and post-production services.

Zahid is the Education Administrator for Green Lane Academy of Sacred Sciences (GLASS) and has been attending Green Lane Masjid for nearly two decades.
Zahid plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation and efficient management of various administrative tasks within the masjid.
Beyond his role as a GLASS Administrator, Zahid is an individual deeply rooted in faith and community. Macmillan Volunteer Coordinator and Support Worker
Hirra, with a BA hons degree in working with children, young people, and families, has dedicated herself to community work since her graduation. With a solid background in family support and outreach, she brings invaluable knowledge and skills to her role.
Hirra is enthusiastic about using her expertise to support families in need, and she looks forward to making a meaningful impact on both the local and wider community at Green Lane Masjid.

Salma has background knowledge in Health Sciences and Information Technology. She has a passion for helping those in need and has participated in various charity events.
Salma started her journey at the masjid, as a Kickstart apprentice, as a Madrasah Administrator. Due to her love, desire and determination to continue working at the masjid she is now working full time as the main female Office Administrator.

Khurram Saleem, serving as the Scouts Group Lead Volunteer, brings a wealth of expertise to the GLM Scouts group, honed through a Masters in Business Administration and seven years of experience. His proficiency in management is matched only by his sincere desire to volunteer within a masjid setting, reflecting a commitment to community service and spiritual fulfilment.
Hamza Fletcher
Domestic Violence Support Worker
Hamza is a talented Videographer with a passion for capturing the essence of moments and bringing them to life through video. Holding a First Class Degree in Digital Media Production, Hamza possesses the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in his field.
With a decade of experience under his belt, Hamza has consistently demonstrated a proactive and professional approach to his work. Since joining Green Lane Masjid in 2019, he has been dedicated to elevating the level of media production to new heights. Hamza believes that the house of Allah SWT deserves to be portrayed in the best light possible, and he is committed to showcasing the beauty of the masjid through his visual storytelling.
For Hamza, his work as a videographer at Green Lane Masjid is more than just a job—it combines his passion for both deen (faith) and videography. He is grateful for the opportunity to work in an environment that fosters content that is halal and thayyib (pure). Hamza sees his presence at Green Lane Masjid as a blessing from Allah SWT, as He has chosen him to contribute to the important work carried out by the team.
Outside of his videography pursuits, Hamza is an avid badminton player who finds joy in staying active and pursuing his love for the sport. He also has a deep appreciation for nature and animals, with a special fondness for cats.
His dedication to his craft and with his technical expertise, creative vision, and unwavering commitment to portraying Green Lane Masjid in the best possible light, Hamza is an invaluable asset to the team.
Liakat Younis
Head of Projects
Liakat is a volunteer and Head of Projects for Task Force GLM – Green Lane Masjid’s humanitarian department.
In industry, Liakat works as an Enterprise Architect and has chaired design authorities for £multi-million projects. He has lead transformation programmes around the world. He brings with him over 20 years of project and programme management experience.
He organised his first charity event at the age of 16 for Birmingham City Council and has continued volunteering wherever possible. He has worked with many charities in an advisory/volunteer role and is part of GLMCC’s Macmillan Cancer Support team. He was also the Project Manager for GLMCC’s first umrah project.
Not known for sitting still, he can often be seen on the move, teaching, studying, road biking or cooking!
Aqeela Naheed
Head of Sisters Tarbiyah
Aqeela is one of our most treasured volunteers and has been with us since 2007. Some of Aqeela’s key highlights include being the head of the sisters’ Dawah team, head of revert sisters’ support and organising our first ever conference for sisters. For over eight years Aqeela has been the head of our sisters Tarbiyah department. She has a true passion for educating the community and helping individuals to transform their lives through learning about the deen. She has organised several seminars, conferences, Ramadhan programmes and tarbiyah days for both women and children over the years.
Aqeela is currently helping to set-up and run a mentor programme for new Muslims with Islamwise. Besides her dedicated commitment to the masjid, Aqeela has also home-schooled her four children to degree level and holds a BA with the Open University.
Asha Din
Senior Volunteer
Asha was born in the Philippines, she was raised in Hong Kong and has now settled in Birmingham. She can speak English, Cantonese & Pashto.
Asha has a vibrant personality; she is warm and welcoming and loves to help others.
Asha started her journey at Green Lane masjid as a volunteer for IslamWise; she has a passion for supporting new Muslim sisters in their journey of Islam. Asha also helps out at the Jummah (Friday) prayers, fundraising for masjid projects as well as stewarding during our annual conferences.
Kalsoom Ahmad
Jummah Stewarding Lead
Kalsoom has been a volunteer at Green Lane Masjid for the past 10 years; working her way up whilst making long-lasting friendships.
She enjoys meeting a variety of people from all different backgrounds. She is a dedicated volunteer and helps out in many areas of the masjid; from taking part in Coffee Mornings, washing the deceased for the funeral service, greeting the new sisters into the fold of Islam with IslamWise and managing stewards for conferences, Taraweeh and Eid prayers.
In her spare time, Kalsoom enjoys gardening.
Aisha Butt
Senior Sisters Volunteer
Aisha has been working in clinical research for a number of years after graduating from university. She has been an active volunteer with Green Lane masjid since 2014, helping in various events such as charity events, conferences, stewarding during Ramadan, Eid and Jummah. Aisha currently is actively helping in Madrasah with admin related duties.
Aisha has undertaken various courses at Green Lane Masjid in Tajweed, Qur’an, Tafseer, learning Arabic as a language and Arabic grammar. Alhumdullilah, she is currently still learning and is undertaking the 2-year Fiqh programme, Urdu/English Tafseer, while continuing with Tilawah.

Some of Aqeela’s key highlights include being the head of the sisters’ Dawah team, head of revert sisters’ support and organising our first ever conference for sisters. For over eight years Aqeela has been the head of our sisters Tarbiyah department. She has a true passion for educating the community and helping individuals to transform their lives through learning about the deen. She has organised several seminars, conferences, Ramadhan programmes and tarbiyah days for both women and children over the years.
Aqeela is currently helping to set-up and run a mentor programme for new Muslims with Islamwise. Besides her dedicated commitment to the masjid, Aqeela has also home-schooled her four children to degree level and holds a BA with the Open University.
Asha Din
Senior Volunteer
Asha was born in the Philippines, she was raised in Hong Kong and has now settled in Birmingham. She can speak English, Cantonese & Pashto.
Asha has a vibrant personality; she is warm and welcoming and loves to help others.
Asha started her journey at Green Lane masjid as a volunteer for IslamWise; she has a passion for supporting new Muslim sisters in their journey of Islam. Asha also helps out at the Jummah (Friday) prayers, fundraising for masjid projects as well as stewarding during our annual conferences.
Kalsoom Ahmad
Jummah Stewarding Lead
Kalsoom has been a volunteer at Green Lane Masjid for the past 10 years; working her way up whilst making long-lasting friendships.
She enjoys meeting a variety of people from all different backgrounds. She is a dedicated volunteer and helps out in many areas of the masjid; from taking part in Coffee Mornings, washing the deceased for the funeral service, greeting the new sisters into the fold of Islam with IslamWise and managing stewards for conferences, Taraweeh and Eid prayers.
In her spare time, Kalsoom enjoys gardening.

Senior Sisters Volunteer
Aisha has been working in clinical research for a number of years after graduating from university. She has been an active volunteer with Green Lane masjid since 2014, helping in various events such as charity events, conferences, stewarding during Ramadan, Eid and Jummah. Aisha currently is actively helping in Madrasah with admin related duties.
Aisha has undertaken various courses at Green Lane Masjid in Tajweed, Qur’an, Tafseer, learning Arabic as a language and Arabic grammar. Alhumdullilah, she is currently still learning and is undertaking the 2-year Fiqh programme, Urdu/English Tafseer, while continuing with Tilawah.
Shaykh Zakaullah Saleem
Head Imam
Qari Zakaullah is the Head Imam and Head of Education at the Masjid. After completing his Islamic Education, he worked in numerous roles before becoming the Imam of Green Lane Masjid in the UK. He memorised the Qur’an at a very young age and has led the taraweeh prayers on numerous occasions. He has recently completed his Masters in Islamic Education from the Markfield Institute of Higher Education.
Zahid Hussain
Education Administrator
Zahid is the Education Administrator for Green Lane Academy of Sacred Sciences (GLASS) and has been attending Green Lane Masjid for nearly two decades.
Zahid plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation and efficient management of various administrative tasks within the masjid.
Beyond his role as a GLASS Administrator, Zahid is an individual deeply rooted in faith and community. His long-standing connection with Green Lane Masjid has not only shaped his spiritual journey but has also allowed him to build strong bonds with fellow worshippers and contribute to the development of a vibrant community.
Zahid dedication and commitment to Green Lane Masjid is reflective of his unwavering faith and passion for creating a positive impact. Through his role as a GLASS Administrator and his continuous presence within the community, Zahid plays a crucial part in fostering a nurturing environment where individuals can come together to worship, learn, and grow.
Assima Alam
Head of Fundraising and Marketing
Assima is a highly experienced senior digital marketing and communications specialist, holding a BSc in Computer Science and a BA in Islamic Studies. With over 20 years of experience in her field, Assima brings a wealth of expertise to our team.
After spending eight years as a business analyst at Rolls Royce, Assima launched her own agency where she consulted on digital marketing. She specialises in digital marketing strategy and execution, developing a digital presence, websites, and server management, as well as executing successful Search Engine Optimisation strategies.
As our digital marketing manager, Assima is responsible for managing the strategy and planning for all our digital platforms. She works closely with the team to develop and execute effective digital marketing campaigns that help achieve the masjid’s goals.
In addition to her professional work, Assima is deeply passionate about working in the deen and finding ways to integrate her faith into her work. As a busy mother of three, she enjoys swimming and spending time outdoors in nature, whenever she gets a chance.

Haniya Adam
PR and Communications Consultant
Haniya works as a PR and Communications Consultant at GLMCC. She began volunteering at the mosque in 2010 where she delivered tarbiya circles, public speaking class, revert support services and Budding Believers classes for children.
As a graduate in BA (Hons) English Language and Literature and PGCE in Education, Haniya uses her qualifications and experience to focus on positive media relations and networking for the masjid.

Ibraheem Naeem is one of our in-house videographers at Green Lane Masjid. Armed with top-notch equipment and technical expertise, he is dedicated to delivering high-quality video production and post-production services.
Hamza Fletcher
Domestic Violence Support Worker
Hamza is a talented Videographer with a passion for capturing the essence of moments and bringing them to life through video. Holding a First Class Degree in Digital Media Production, Hamza possesses the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in his field.
With a decade of experience under his belt, Hamza has consistently demonstrated a proactive and professional approach to his work. Since joining Green Lane Masjid in 2019, he has been dedicated to elevating the level of media production to new heights. Hamza believes that the house of Allah SWT deserves to be portrayed in the best light possible, and he is committed to showcasing the beauty of the masjid through his visual storytelling.
For Hamza, his work as a videographer at Green Lane Masjid is more than just a job—it combines his passion for both deen (faith) and videography. He is grateful for the opportunity to work in an environment that fosters content that is halal and thayyib (pure). Hamza sees his presence at Green Lane Masjid as a blessing from Allah SWT, as He has chosen him to contribute to the important work carried out by the team.
Outside of his videography pursuits, Hamza is an avid badminton player who finds joy in staying active and pursuing his love for the sport. He also has a deep appreciation for nature and animals, with a special fondness for cats.

Mustafa Abu Rayyan
Imam and Religious Adviser
Sheikh Mustafa Hussein (Abu Rayyan) memorised the Quran from a young age and joined local study circles where he studied the Arabic language and Tafseer of the Qur’an.
He continued his journey in seeking knowledge by travelling to the city of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم and joined the Islamic University of Madinah. He studied & graduated from the Arabic institute and then went on to study at the Faculty of Shariah. He also had the privilege of studying under the major scholars of Madinah
Mustafa has a passion for Dawah and has been travelling the country educating people about Islam. He also travels internationally partaking in Islamic conferences as a keynote speaker. He is currently a khateeb and lecturer at Green Lane Masjid where he also manages many Dawah projects.

Sidrah Awan
Head of Sisters Centre, Services and Activities
As Head of the Sisters Centre, Sidrah is accountable for the services and activities related to the sisters at Green Lane Masjid. She also acts as the sisters’ Office Manager, responsible for all female volunteers and staff.
Sidrah is a qualified teacher by profession. She gained a BSc in Medical Biochemistry from the University of Birmingham and went on to gain a PGCE in Chemistry from the University of Oxford. Before joining Green Lane Masjid, she was the Deputy Head of a local Islamic Girls’ School. Due to her extensive experience in teaching and working within the Education sector, Sidrah was the Head of Education at Green Lane Masjid for 3 years. In her new role, she will now be focussing on the provision for sisters within the masjid.
Liakat Younis
Head of Projects
Liakat is a volunteer and Head of Projects for Task Force GLM – Green Lane Masjid’s humanitarian department.
In industry, Liakat works as an Enterprise Architect and has chaired design authorities for £multi-million projects. He has lead transformation programmes around the world. He brings with him over 20 years of project and programme management experience.
He organised his first charity event at the age of 16 for Birmingham City Council and has continued volunteering wherever possible. He has worked with many charities in an advisory/volunteer role and is part of GLMCC’s Macmillan Cancer Support team. He was also the Project Manager for GLMCC’s first umrah project.
Not known for sitting still, he can often be seen on the move, teaching, studying, road biking or cooking!

Maria has a background in healthcare and administration, with experience in various roles that have equipped her with a solid understanding of community support. As the Onsite Madrasah Administrator, Maria is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Madrasah. In her spare time, Maria enjoys spending time with friends, family, and being in the masjid.

Salma has background knowledge in Health Sciences and Information Technology. She has a passion for helping those in need and has participated in various charity events.
Salma started her journey at the masjid, as a Kickstart apprentice, as a Madrasah Administrator. Due to her love, desire and determination to continue working at the masjid she is now working full time as the main female Office Administrator.

Sara, with a background in psychology and political science, brings nearly 7 years of experience in managing and facilitating scouting activities. She is dedicated to fostering a positive environment for the scouts, aligning with the values of Green Lane Masjid.

Shaykh Dr Ahsan Hanif
Religious Advisor
Born and bred in Birmingham, UK, Shaykh Ahsan is well known in his community as the young Qari who memorised the Qur’an at the tender age of 13 and who delivered regular halaqaat in Birmingham. In the year 2000, he gained a scholarship to enter the Islamic University of Madinah. After completing his Arabic diploma, he graduated from the Faculty of Shari’ah in 2006 with honours. He obtained ijazah in the Qur’an as well as studying under a number of well-known scholars, such as Sh. Abdul Muhsin al-Abbad and Sh. Muhammad ibn Muhammad Mukhtar al-Shinqiti.
Shaykh Ahsan has completed his PhD in Islamic Law from the University of Birmingham and is an Imam and khateeb at Green Lane Masjid.
Mohammed Saeed
Chair, Board of Trustees
Saeed is the Chair of Trustees, and is also the Director of a Travel Agency specialising in Hajj & Umrah. Saeed has a long affiliation to the Masjid and brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience.
Ishtiaq Ahmed
Trustee & Treasurer
Ishtiaq has been involved with the masjid for a number of decades. His father was one of the founding members of the masjid back in the 1970s. He has fulfilled many voluntary roles in the past, primarily related to Building Maintenance and managing the IT and audio visual needs of the masjid. He is currently the Treasurer, overseeing the Masjid finances.
Mohammed Naeem
Trustee
Naeem combines his role as Trustee alongside being involved with the Dawah department. He has worked tirelessly over the past years to further the dawah work of the Masjid.
Sajjad Akram
Trustee & Secretary
Sajjad has been attending the Masjid for over thirty years, initially as a madrasah student. He has led youth services and overseen the Masjid finances during the past ten years. Currently he supports various initiatives and projects at GLMCC.
