Introduction
The Pantry at GLMCC is a community-led project providing food support with dignity and choice to individuals and families experiencing food poverty.
Our shop-style foodbank model allows service users to choose their own food and household items, promoting independence and reducing stigma.
The Pantry supports over 150 people every week, working with more than 30 frontline referral partners across Birmingham. Since its relaunch in October 2024, the project has helped over 7,800 people access essential food and toiletries.
How does it work?
The Pantry operates on a referral-only basis using a voucher system:
- Referral partners (such as schools, housing officers, and health visitors) are issued Foodbank Voucher Booklets.
- When a person or family needs support, the partner issues a voucher.
- Each voucher can be redeemed for up to three days’ worth of food.
- Vouchers must be redeemed within 7 days of issue.
- Service users can access The Pantry once every two weeks.
- Service users must bring their voucher and photo ID when visiting.
Our volunteers support clients throughout their visit, helping them choose items with dignity and respect.
“Over 150 people supported every week through The Pantry.”

How to Get a Referral
You can request a referral through:
- Your school, housing officer, or health visitor
- Local community organisations or charities
- Your refuge, support worker, or faith leader
If you’re not sure who can refer you, please get in touch with us, we’ll help connect you to a referral partner.
📧 Email: food.bank@greenlanemasjid.org
Once you receive your voucher, you can visit The Pantry during our opening times. Please bring:
- Your voucher
- A form of photo ID
Each visit provides essential pantry food items, and you can access The Pantry once every two weeks.
“If you need help, please reach out – we’ll do everything we can to support you.”
