CONTRACT TYPE: Part-time (15 hours per week). Successful candidate will be required to work flexible

BACKGROUND TO GLMCC:
Green Lane Masjid and Community Centre is a leading UK mosque situated in the heart of Birmingham
serving the community since 1979. Operating from its award-winning grade II listed Victorian building,
GLMCC fulfils its mission of inspiring, educating and serving through its educational college, outreach work,
welfare services, youth work, international humanitarian wing, as well as its fully functional mosque which is
attended by thousands every week
ABOUT ISLAMWISE:
Islamwise is dedicated to supporting revert Muslims through education, mentorship, community engagement
and practical support. We work to help new Muslims build confidence in their faith and develop meaningful
connections within the Muslim community.
1. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
We are seeking a compassionate, organised and proactive individual to join our team and play a key role in
supporting revert sisters through education, mentorship, community engagement and practical support. The
Outreach & Support Lead/Co-ordinator will be responsible for coordinating sisters' activities, supporting revert
sisters through mentorship and guidance, organising events and classes and ensuring the smooth running of
Islamwise's weekly programmes and community initiatives.
The successful candidate will be passionate about serving others, have excellent organisational and
communication skills and be able to work professionally with sisters from diverse backgrounds.
2. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE ROLE
Revert Support & Mentoring
• Provide one to one mentoring and support for sisters who have recently embraced Islam.
• Support and facilitate the learning of the fundamental teachings of Islam, including the Five Pillars, Six
Articles of Faith and the basics of Salah.
• Meet sisters regularly for catch ups, guidance, encouragement, and welfare support.
• Offer understanding support within the scope of the role and signpost sisters to appropriate specialist
services where required.
• Maintain regular communication with sisters and encourage ongoing engagement with classes,
events, and activities.
• Monitor the progress and wellbeing of mentees and support volunteer mentors where needed.
Shahadah Support
• Coordinate and facilitate Shahadah requests, including scheduled appointments and walk in
Shahadahs.
• Welcome and support sisters throughout the Shahadah process.
• Ensure appropriate follow up support is provided after Shahadah.
• Help new Muslims integrate into the Islamwise community and wider Muslim community.
Events & Programme Coordination
• Plan, organise and deliver events from start to finish.
• Coordinate event logistics, including:
• Selecting suitable topics.
• Arranging speakers.
• Coordinate all practical arrangements required for events, ensuring a welcoming and positive
experience for attendees.
• Promote events and encourage attendance among sisters.
• Ensure all programmes, classes, and gatherings run smoothly and professionally.
• Attend events and provide on the day coordination and support.
Weekly Gatherings & Operations
• Arrive early to prepare venues for weekly gatherings and classes.
• Support the preparation and clear-down of events, classes and gatherings, including room set-up,
equipment and materials.
• Purchase items required for classes, events and gatherings.
• Assist with the smooth running of weekly activities and community programmes.
• Handle enquiries received through the organisation's phone and communication channels.
Team Participation
• Attend weekly Islamwise staff meetings.
• Attend monthly volunteer meetings.
• Work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, mentors and community partners.
• Uphold the values, vision and objectives of Islamwise at all times.

Experience working with revert Muslims.

Previous mentoring, teaching, support work, or community engagement experience.
